Wednesday, September 13, 2006 Vanishing Texas River Cruise: Low Water Drought Conditions The Vanishing Texas River Cruise can't follow its normal course because water levels are too low due to drought, but they're offering a 90-minute cruise on Lake Buchanan around the wildlife sanctuary of Garret Island, the reappearance of the old villages of Tow and Bluffton and the travertine formation of White Bluff. [Link] Tuesday, September 05, 2006 Horseback Riding at Post Oak Farm Post Oak Farm in the Burnet area offers a 2-hour plus trail ride at $50 per person. They have regular rides on weekends, but can schedule rides any day but Monday. Riders must be at least 8 years old and weight less than 225 lbs. Call 512-756-4647 for reservations. Monday, June 26, 2006 Kingsland Texas Aqua Boom Festival on Lake LBJ - Kingsland / Lake LBJ Chamber of Commerce Kingsland's annual Aqua Boom is a pretty great smalltown America July 4th celebration. Kingsland's always had the fireworks display to catch in the area, but they've been growing more events over the years. You can actually see the fireworks from some parts of Inks Lake, including Clear Creek, but it's better to catch it from the bridge in Kingsland. Sunday, December 04, 2005 Hill Country Flyer The Hill Country Flyer, a passenger train powered by a steam locomotive, makes regular weekend runs from Cedar Park near Austin to Burnet. The flyer is operated by The Austin Steam Train Association. The first couple of weekends in December, the Burnet stay will extend into the night to allow passengers to stay around for Christmas lights and festivities. More information at austinsteamtrain.org. According to the Llano County Chamber of Commerce, the eagles nest nine miles north of Llano on Highway 29.
